The Department of Mechanics, Mathematics, and Management was established in 2013, following the statutes of the Polytechnic University of Bari, through the merger of the DIMeG (Department of Mechanical and Management Engineering) and the DIM (Department of Mathematics) into a single structure.
The primary purpose of the Department is to organize and promote advanced education and research, as well as to develop and transfer scientific and technological knowledge in its relevant disciplinary fields. The research areas of the Department are rooted in the most important sectors of Mechanical Engineering, Management Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences.
Established in November 2012 in accordance with the Gelmini reform, the Department of Mechanical, Energy, and Management Engineering (DIMEG) at the University of Calabria serves as a strategic focal point for educational, research, and technology transfer activities in the field of industrial engineering.
Its mission is to build an educational model grounded in scientific research and teaching expertise, supported by strong industry relationships that extend nationally and internationally. This approach aligns closely with the restructuring of the university system introduced by Law 240/2010.
The department's scientific research in mechanics, energy, and management positions DIMEG favorably within the international landscape. Moreover, it aims to foster regional development, emphasizing technology transfer projects that translate research into economic value, thereby contributing to the overall wealth and prosperity of both the country and its people.
The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Salerno serves as our reference point. Founded in 1983, the Faculty of Engineering emerged from the integration of professors specializing in civil and environmental engineering, chemistry, electronics and computer science, and mechanical engineering. Despite its diverse cultural components, the Faculty of Engineering operates with a unified vision and a deep commitment: continuous innovation to meet the real educational and research needs of society.
Research activity stands out as a cornerstone of the Faculty of Engineering. All sectors are deeply engaged in research through 56 research laboratories, alongside numerous well-established collaborations with universities, institutions, and businesses both in Italy and abroad. Recently, the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) certified the quality of all Engineering Degree Programs at the University of Salerno according to the European standard EUR-ACE.

BISTRONIC TUBE PROCESSING S.p.A. is internationally represented through numerous subsidiaries and partner companies. Their specialty lies in laser-supported processing of tubes and profiles with diameters ranging from 12 to 610 millimeters and lengths up to 14 meters. They employ both CO₂ and fiber laser cutting technologies depending on the material, desired cutting quality, and productivity needs.

Their laser cutting technology includes both 2D and 3D capabilities, allowing for precise individual cutting of pieces in various configurations: round, square, and rectangular tubes, as well as profiles with different open cross-sectional shapes (e.g., H, L, T, and U sections). In addition to straight cuts, the 3D technology enables cutting at angles up to 45 degrees, which replaces costly milling, drilling, punching, or sawing operations.

This versatility in laser processing capabilities positions BISCRONIC as a leader in efficient and precise tube and profile cutting solutions, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
